Schema markup is structured information that tells search engines exactly what a page is about: an article, a product, a business, a list of questions. This generator turns a simple form into valid JSON-LD code for the most useful schema types, ready to paste into your page.
What schema markup does
Search engines read your page text, but text can be ambiguous. Is “Gilgit Tours” a company, a blog post or a city guide? Is “2500” a price, a year or a phone number? Schema markup removes the guesswork by labelling the facts in a standard vocabulary from schema.org.
When the labels are correct and the page qualifies, Google can show rich results: star ratings, prices, FAQ answers, business hours, author names and more. Rich results take more space on the page and often get more clicks. Schema also helps AI search tools understand and quote your content correctly.
Schema is not a ranking trick. It does not push a weak page to the top. It helps good pages get understood and displayed better.
Schema types in this generator
| Type | Use it for | Possible rich result |
|---|---|---|
| Article | Blog posts, news, guides | Better article display, author and date |
| FAQPage | A page with a visible list of questions and answers | Expandable questions in some results |
| Product | A page selling one product | Price, availability, review stars |
| LocalBusiness | Shops, restaurants, hotels, agencies with a location | Business details, hours, map information |
| Person | An about page or personal brand site | Helps build a knowledge panel for the person |
| Organization | A company or brand home page | Logo and brand details in results |
How to use the generator
-
Pick the schema type that matches the main content of the page.
-
Fill the fields. Leave a field empty if it does not apply; empty fields are left out of the code automatically.
-
Watch the code update on the right as you type.
-
Copy the code and paste it into the page, either in the head section or in a Custom HTML block in WordPress.
-
Test it with Google’s Rich Results Test using the button under the code.
If you switch the type, fields with the same name keep what you typed, so you can try a different type without starting over. Everything runs in your browser.
Filling each type correctly
Article
Use the exact headline shown on the page, a short description, the page URL and a main image. Add the author’s real name and the publisher. Dates should be the real publish and update dates. Updating the “modified” date without changing the article does not help and can look misleading.
FAQ page
Write one question per line in the form Question | Answer. Only include questions and answers that are visible on the page. Google limits FAQ rich results to certain kinds of trusted sites, so they may not always show, but the markup still describes your page clearly for search and AI tools.
Product
Add the product name, description, image, brand and price. Use a three letter currency code: PKR for Pakistani rupees, USD for dollars. Only add rating and review count if real customer reviews are shown on the same page. Inventing ratings breaks Google’s rules and can lead to a penalty.
Local business
Choose the most specific type from the list, such as Store, Restaurant, Hotel, TravelAgency or AutoRental. Use the same name, address and phone number as on your Google Business Profile. Latitude and longitude help map services; you can copy them from Google Maps by right-clicking your location. Opening hours use a short format like Mo-Sa 09:00-21:00.
Person
Use the name people search for, and add another name if you are known by two. List your real social profile URLs, one per line. These sameAs links are how search engines connect your website to your profiles, which helps with a knowledge panel.
Organization
Add the official name, website, logo URL and social profiles. Place it on the home page or about page, not on every page.
Where to put the code
- WordPress block editor: add a Custom HTML block at the end of the page and paste the code. It is invisible to visitors.
- WordPress with an SEO plugin: Yoast and Rank Math already add Article, Organization and breadcrumb schema. Avoid adding a second copy of the same type, or Google may see duplicates. Use this generator for types your plugin does not cover, such as FAQ or LocalBusiness.
- Plain HTML: paste the code in the head section or anywhere in the body.
Rules that keep your schema safe
-
Mark up only what is on the page. Every fact in the schema should be visible to visitors too.
-
Be honest. No fake reviews, prices or awards. Misleading markup can remove all rich results from your site.
-
One main type per page. A product page is a Product, not also an Article and a LocalBusiness.
-
Keep it updated. If the price or hours change, update the schema too.
-
Test after every change. A missing comma can break the whole block.
JSON-LD vs other formats
Schema can be written in three formats: JSON-LD, Microdata and RDFa. Google recommends JSON-LD because it sits in one block, separate from your HTML, so it is easy to add, edit and remove without touching your design. That is the format this generator produces.
Reading test results
After pasting the code into Google’s Rich Results Test, you will see one of three outcomes:
- Valid items detected: the markup is correct and eligible for rich results.
- Warnings: optional fields are missing. The markup still works; add the fields if you have the information.
- Errors: a required field is missing or invalid. Fix it, otherwise that item is ignored.
Eligible does not mean guaranteed. Google decides when to show rich results based on the search and the page quality.
Schema and AI search
AI assistants and AI search features also read structured data to understand who wrote a page, what a business offers and how facts relate. Clear Person and Organization schema, together with an llms.txt file from the llms.txt Generator, gives these tools a reliable summary of your site.
Examples of good schema for common sites
A blog
Article on every post, Organization or Person once on the home or about page, and BreadcrumbList if your theme shows breadcrumbs. Add FAQPage only on posts that end with a real question and answer section.
A local shop or service in Pakistan
LocalBusiness on the home page with the full address, phone number with the +92 code, opening hours and coordinates. Keep the name and address exactly the same as on your Google Business Profile, signboard and social pages. Consistent details help local search trust that they all describe one business.
An online store
Product on each product page with price in PKR or your selling currency, and availability that matches your stock. Organization on the home page with your logo.
A personal brand site
Person on the home or about page with every real profile you use listed in sameAs. If you are known by two names, add the second as an alternate name so search engines connect them.
Common schema errors and quick fixes
- Invalid JSON: usually a missing comma or quote after editing by hand. Regenerate the code here instead of editing it.
- Missing required field: Product needs a name and usually an offer or review; Article needs a headline. Fill the field and test again.
- Wrong date format: use the date picker, which gives the standard YYYY-MM-DD format.
- Image not crawlable: the image URL must be public and load without login.
- Duplicate items: your theme or plugin already outputs the same type. Remove one copy.
Frequently asked questions
Does schema markup improve rankings?
Not directly. It helps search engines understand your page and can earn rich results, which often increase clicks.
Where do I paste the JSON-LD code?
In the page head, or in a Custom HTML block in WordPress. It does not show to visitors.
Can I add schema if I already use Yoast or Rank Math?
Yes, but do not duplicate types the plugin already adds, such as Article or Organization. Use the generator for missing types like FAQ or LocalBusiness.
Why do my FAQ rich results not show?
Google shows FAQ rich results only for some trusted sites and searches. Valid markup still helps search and AI tools understand the page.
Can I add review stars to my product?
Only if real reviews from customers are visible on the same page. Invented ratings break Google’s guidelines.
Is the generator free and private?
Yes. It runs in your browser, nothing is sent or saved, and there is no signup.
Which schema type should I start with?
For most sites, Organization or Person on the home page and Article on blog posts. Local shops should add LocalBusiness first, because it supports local search.
How long until rich results appear?
After Google crawls the page again, which can take days to weeks. Request indexing in Search Console to speed it up.
